{RECAP} 2013 – AN UNBELIEVABLE YEAR!

2013 TMS Recap

At the end of every year, I like to take time to look back and reflect on what was  blessings and adventures occurred during that time. I do this with my personal life and with The Marshmallow Studio. You really learn a lot about your strengths, your weaknesses and it helps set new goals for the upcoming year. For me, doing annual recaps of each year on this blogs has helped me document the growth in my marshmallow skills, and my marketing abilities. Oh and to see the progress of my photography and Photoshop skills too which have a long way to go still haha.

{PLEASE NOTE: Below each image there will be a link you can click to see the full post for that project which will include additional photos and details.}

AIDEN’S “KEEP SOARING HIGH” 3RD BDAY PARTY

I cannot believe it has taken me over eight months to post my son’s 3rd birthday party from August 11, 2012.  This is proof that the book and the move has taken a toll on me.

Well, better late than never :) Enjoy!

This celebrations was far more than just another birthday party, it was a graduation party as well per say. Meaning, we were celebrating the successful completion a full year of speech and applied behavior analysis therapy. He worked so hard to learn new things, learn to talk and modify his behavior and at times I couldn’t bear to see him struggle and become upset day after day, but we knew it was for his best. As the end of his therapy term neared, which coincidentally would be right at his 3rd birthday, it was clear to us he deserved a big party complete with sweets, piñatas, family and friends!

PASTEL COLORS FOR EASTER DESSERTS!

Easter _ TMS

Wah-lah! A whole desserts table decorated with marshmallows perfect for an Easter or Springtime get-together. This is my latest project for KRAFT Jet-Puffed marshmallows. It’s always fun to go above and beyond and make a whole table rather than just one piece. I had a blast playing stylist and eating those yummy cupcakes afterwards ;)

THE PARTY WITH AMY LOCURTO

Rainbow-Butterfly-pops-The Marshmallow Studio

A few weeks ago, you guys might remember me talking about a super cool secret project I was making pops for. I shared a few sneak peek photos on my Instagram profile. Then a couple of weeks ago I was able to share what the big mystery was all about and who and what they were for.

I had made marshmallow flowers and butterflies to match Amy Locurto’s new Rainbow Party Collection from her new line with Pebbles, Inc.  She was having a booth at the 2013 Craft and Hobby Association Winter Tradeshow and wanted to display them in her booth along her beautiful new bright paper goods. Of course I was honored she asked me and jumped right into this opportunity. It’s not everyday someone you totally admire asks you for something.

Here are a few screen shots I saved from other’s posts:

MARSHMALLOW ROSE BOUQUET

Valentines Day Pink Rose Bouquet by TMS for JP

February is my favorite month out of the year for so many reasons – it’s my birthday, my son Keiran was born, Valentine’s Day and it’s a short month! This year, I don’t seem to be as excited as usual about it, probably because I’m getting older and I’m starting to see wrinkles and gray hair :( Oh well, it’s life and I still have health, a family ,and a roof over my head… so it’s all good right?!

Anyways….. as Valentine’s Day draws near, I’m starting to see hearts, rose bouquets, boxes of chocolates and plush animals everywhere. It all got me thinking about what I should do for my Jet-Puffed marshmallow special project. The answer was right in front of me – ROSES!  Not just any roses, but MARSHMALLOW ROSES :)

Here’s a confession, I don’t like real flowers. For many reasons – they die, they’re high maintenance, they’re expensive and  then you have to clean the moldy vase. I’m more of a silk flower kind of girl.  I know, I’m weird like that. These marshmallow roses are perfect for me because, they won’t perish, they won’t discolor, they won’t die, and they can look pretty on my desk year-round. Marshmallows get rock hard if not kept in an air-tight containers so in a few weeks these will be like rock candy. Pretty candy art!

I absolutely loved loved loved how they turned out.

ONCE UPON A TIME – OPERATION SHOWER

It gives me great joy to donating and creating custom pieces for Operation Shower events. This time I was approached by Tanya from Save the date for Cupcakes to make pops for the dessert table she was styling . The theme was Once Upon a Time and I made The Lorax inspired Truffala Trees which I absolutely had a blast making. I used paper straws from Green Party Goods and Jet-Puffed‘s Jumbo Mallows. I also love love loved the little fondant Lorax figurine Brenda from Sugar High, Inc. made and was placed right by our pops, it was perfect!

You can see more photos and read up on all the details on Hostess with the Mostess and Operation Shower.
