HAPPY HALLOWEEN MARSHMALLOW PUMPKIN

During my son’s preschool teacher-parent conference his teachers asked me what did a “marshmallow designer” do?? They were intrigued after seeing my occupation listed on the school records. I smiled and said “I make all kinds of stuff with marshmallows!” That only seemed to have fueled their curiosity even more. They immediately asked me if I’d like to bring in something to their upcoming Halloween party. Well you guys know me…. I love challenges and having an excuse to play with marshmallows 🙂

I had a few ideas in mind but it wasn’t until 8:00 PM the night before Halloween that the light bulb went off. I decided to make a true 100% piece (no dummy as my base). I made a real size pumpkin covered in mini marshmallows!!

I purchased a 12 pound pumpkin for $5 and got to work…

I began by making royal icing and coloring it – green, orange and black. Then sugaring mini marshmallows orange and black.

I first outlined the face with royal icing and stuck on the mini black marshmallows. Next, was covered the rest of the pumpkin with orange mini marshmallows. Last, outline the grooves of the pumpkin and pipe the green vines on top.

I also thought I’d make individual marshmallow pops for the kiddos to take home with them 🙂

I used Jet-Puffed Ghost Mallows and Jumbo Pumpkin Mallows then just inserted them into lollipop sticks and decorated them with royal icing. I hope they love them!!
