Although any day is a great day for some fondue fun, it seems like it’s extra popular during Valentine’s Day. Perhaps because it’s a fun way to enjoy a meal with your loved one or because it’s so versatile that you can fondue just about any type of food.  You can use it to melt cheese and dip veggies, put hot oil and fry meats or with many hot dips. Little ones, teenagers, parents, couples, seniors…. anyone can join in the fun so it’s awesome!

 

My good friend gave me a fondue set for Christmas. I absolutely love it because it came with a big pot, six little condiment bowls, 6 dipping forks and it spins around too. We are a family of 4 and we love entertaining so this was a perfect gift for us!  We love sweets, so naturally the first use I could think of was to dip fruit into chocolate. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the cutest JET-PUFFED heart shaped marshmallows are now available, I decided to have a little fondue fun with my boys. I washed a few strawberries, cut up an apple and banana, and pulled out a few HeartMallows and Jumbo HeartMallows for our chocolate fondue.

 

Chocolate Fondue Dip

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Serving Size: 1 Teaspoon of chocolate per dipping

Makes:  2 cups

Ingredients

1 cup heavy whipping cream

 3 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

1 cup light brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

2 packages (8 oz.) BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, finely chopped

Directions:

In a microwave safe large bowl, heat heavy whipping cream and butter until boiling. Remove from microwave and immediately add light brown sugar and vanilla extract. Use a whisk to mix it in until fully dissolved.  Heat for an additional 30 seconds in microwave.

Add chocolate to milk, let stand 3 minutes untouched. Then stir until chocolate is fully melted.

Serve with fresh fruits,  JET-PUFFED Marshmallows, and whatever else you’d like to dip!
