SWEET!!! Christmas is just around the corner and I cannot wait!

Every family has their own traditions. In my family, it’s all about cooking, baking and spending time together. We don’t have customary Christmas recipes that we do but one thing is for sure, it always involves tons of desserts.

In my book it’s just not a real celebration until you add dessert! With that in mind, for my boys it’s just not as fun unless they get to join in the prepping. I’m raising them to be involved and helpful around the house and kitchen. They love learning how to cook and bake which I’m very happy to see. I wanted to create a simple and fun recipe that they could help me with every step of the way. As with most kids, their favorite part is decorating so I thought I’d make a gingerbread man type of dessert. I’ve made gingerbread cookies in the past and for what I was trying to accomplish, that would’ve been too much work so instead I decided on a brownie!

I used a gingerbread man pan, non-stick spray, unsweetened chocolate, butter, eggs, vanilla extract, sugar, flour, chopped pecans, white chocolate, marshmallows and candies to create a memories with my boys and delight my family on Christmas.

With an easy 1-bowl brownie recipe to start, it was a breeze for the boys to help me stir up the brownie batter. When they were done, I sprayed the pan and helped them pour the batter in. I popped it in the oven and we impatiently waited for it to be ready for the next step.

After twenty minutes,  we took out the gingerbread brownie man and topped him with Jet-Puffed Gingerbread Mallows. I put the oven back in the oven for five minutes and we watched the marshmallows puff up. They thought that was cool!

We let the brownie cool down for an hour before we got started on the decorating. I had the boys crack the white chocolate into pieces and put it in a zip-top sandwich bag. I used our microwave to melt the chocolate in just a few seconds. To pipe the chocolate out, all I had to do was snip a small whole on a corner with kitchen shears. No need for fancy equipment here!

Of course I wanted the gingerbread man to look fabulous and professionally decorated but this was their dessert, their time to have fun so I let them do their thing. At the end, it was the most beautiful gingerbread man I had ever seen.
