Time for cupcakes!!!
Now, I’m back with Halloween cupcake toppers.
I believe these have been the easiest I’ve made yet. They also came out so stinkin’ cute!!
As usual, I took this photo prior to completing the toppers; therefore, I left some stuff out and ended up not using others pictured here.
(Let’s play a game – See the individual toppers below to catch which items I added and which I never used.)
MAKE: Dip scissors in water before cutting out each letter. Spray green color on letter marshmallows evenly. Set aside. Dip scissors in water again and cut large marshmallow in half. Tip circle cutter in water and cut out 1/3 piece of marshmallow to create moon shape. Spray yellow color evenly. Let dry completely before handling.
EMBELLISH: Sprinkle yellow disco dust onto moon to make it sparkle.
TIP: To make marshmallow letters, you can use scissors or alphabet mini cutters. I prefer scissors because that way I can decide size and style.
GRAVEYARD + GHOSTS Cupcake
MAKE: Dip scissors in water before cutting out gravestone from marshmallow. Lightly spray black color on marshmallow evenly. Let dry completely before writing RIP on it. Draw eyes and mouth on ghosts.
EMBELLISH: Sprinkle cookie crumbs onto frosting to make it look like dirt.
JACK O’ LANTERN Cupcake
GRAB: 1 JET-PUFFED Jumbo PumpkinMallow, Wilton black FoodWriter marker and Oreo crumbs.
MAKE: Draw face on pumpkin marshmallow.
EMBELLISH: Pipe green frosting on cupcake using WILTON Grass Tip, sprinkle cookie crumbs, place pumpkin and finish off with piped vines on top.
TIP: These are great for Thanksgiving too! Omit the Jack o’ Lantern face and now you have a pumpkin patch cupcake
SLIMY EYEBALL Cupcake
MAKE: Draw eyeball on marshmallow.
EMBELLISH: After piping frosting on top of cupcake, squeeze WILTON Red Sparkle Gel to run down the sides and finish by placing the eyeball on top.
TIP: Now that you know how to make marshmallow eyeballs, go nuts… add these scary suckers into cakes, cookies, desserts, etc. The kids will love drawing them 😉
FURY & SPIKY MONSTER Cupcake
GRAB: 2 JET-PUFFED Mini Marshmallows, 6 JET-PUFFED Candy Corn Marshmallows and Wilton Purple FoodWriter marker.
MAKE: Draw eyes on marshmallows.
EMBELLISH: Pipe grass on top of cupcake using WILTON Grass Tip, place eyeballs on front bottom and candy corn marshmallows all over the top.
TIP: Use different frosting and marker colors to make a fun group of colorful monsters. Super cute for birthday parties too!
EYE’M WATCHING YOU MONSTER Cupcake
GRAB: 10 JET-PUFFED Mini Marshmallows and Wilton black FoodWriter marker.
MAKE: Draw dots on center of mini marshmallows.
EMBELLISH: Use spatula to frost cupcake, place eyeballs in group and pipe on mouth.
TIP: If you don’t have a marker, you can use frosting, melted chocolate or sprinkles to make black pupils.
MAKE: Evenly spray rectangle marshmallow with green color, set aside to dry completely. Once dry, draw Frankie’s face. “Paint” on hair using food brush or toothpick, set aside for candy melt to set. Lightly spray mini marshmallows with black color, set aside to dry. Attach “screws” to face using candy melt.
TIP: You can use melted chocolate for hair too if you don’t have candy melts.
CREEPY SPIDER Cupcake
MAKE: Cut eight thin spider legs out of licorice. Dip scissors in water, cut large marshmallow in half. “Paint” spider with black candy melt, sprinkle black sparkles, set aside to set completely before handling.
EMBELLISH: Place spider on top of frosted cupcake, insert legs on sides underneath spider’s body. Gently press spider onto frosting to make sure it stays in place. Carefully squeeze gel tube to pipe on eyes.
TIP: I prefer to “paint” on candy melts rather than dip because this way I can control the amount used and it’s less messy. I like thin coatings, mostly just to add color.
CARAMEL OWL Cupcake
GRAB: 1 JET-PUFFED Large Marshmallow, 1 orange M&M, Wilton black Candy Melts and 3 KRAFT Caramels.
MAKE: Dip scissors in water. Cut marshmallow in half. “Paint” pupils on marshmallows with candy melt (toothpick or mini spoon works great too). Lay aside to set completely.
EMBELLISH: Place caramels in microwave safe bowl with a few drops of water. Heat for 15 second intervals until softened. Divide caramel into three parts – two will be for ears and one for head. Mold ears with fingers and set aside, Use rolling pin to stretch out third piece into a large circle (just enough to cover top of cupcake). Drape on top of cupcake, Attach eyes to front and nose right beneath with melted caramel.
TIP: Melted chocolate for the pupils is fine too.
WITCH HAT Cupcake
MAKE: Dip scissors in water, diagonally cut top edges of marshmallow to create triangle shape. “Paint” hat with candy melts. Set aside to harden completely before handling.
EMBELLISH: Pipe frosting stripe on hat and attach stars with food tweezers.
TIP: Other fun Halloween sprinkles like pumpkins or ghosts would look great too!
